Uses
AM Au-0 is Pure Gold with a minimum purity of 99.99%. Gold is widely used in many applications and processes including brazing (soldering), plating, vapor deposition, dental, jewelry, and as an electrical connector. AM Au-0 can be used to braze virtually all ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces, carbides, and metalized ceramics. AM Au-0 is also the preferred joining material for medical device manufacturers because of its purity levels and FDA Approval for internal implantable devices.
Brazing Characteristics
AM Au-0 Pure Gold can be successfully brazed onto all metal surfaces and metalized ceramics primarily in a controlled atmosphere (CAB) or vacuum furnace. AM Au-0 is widely used in Medical as a braze filler metal for joining platinum feed-through pins and other implantable medical devices. AM Au-0 is eutectic (Solidus/Liquidus the same temperature) and is a very free flowing element. AM Au-0 has excellent thermal and electrical conductivity and is resistant to corrosion and oxidation. A minimum brazing temperature of 1976° F (1080°C) is recommended for furnace and vacuum applications.

Forms Available
Wire, Foil, Atomized powder, Paste, Sheet, Grain, Bars, Ingots, and Preformed shapes; rings, washers, discs, shims, specialty shapes. Two dimensional shapes can be Laser-cut and/or machined with EDM. Preform surface must be cleaned prior to brazing.
