Uses
AM Au-10 Gold Brazing Alloy is used on most ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, and provides an extremely ductile, high-strength braze joint. AM Au-10 wets very well on Kovar, Nickel, and Copper. AM Au-10 primary applications include brazing of electron tubes, vacuum tubes, and wave guides in the electronic industry. Uses also include hermetic seals, metallized ceramics, ceramic to metal seals, glass to metal seals, and multiple step-brazing applications.
Brazing Characteristics
AM Au-10 Gold Brazing Alloy can be successfully brazed onto a wide range of high temperature applications like microwaves, satellites, wave guides, klystron tubes, medical equipment, solid state power amplifiers, pressure windows, power transmitters, and laser assemblies. AM-Au-10 is less ductile than other gold/copper filler metals containing nickel (BVAu-3). A minimum brazing temperature of 1796°F (980°C) is recommended for furnace and vacuum applications and AM-Au-10 is not recommended without a protective cover or shielding gas.
Specifications
AM Au-10 conforms to the following specifications: UNS: P00503
American Welding Society (AWS) A5.8 BAu-10/BVAu-10.
Forms Available
Wire, Foil, Atomized powder, Paste, Sheet, and Preformed shapes; rings, washers, discs, shims, specialty shapes. Two dimensional shapes can be Laser-cut and machined with EDM though parts must be cleaned prior to brazing.
