Uses
AM Au-2 Gold Brazing Alloy is used on a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. AM Au-2 is Eutectic (Solidus and Liquidus Temperatures are the same) and rapidly wets on most surfaces including metallized ceramics. AM Au-2 primary applications include electron tubes, vacuum tubes, and Klystrons. AM Au-2 uses also include step-braze applications with other gold/copper braze alloys.
Brazing Characteristics
AM Au-2 Gold Brazing Alloy can be successfully brazed onto a wide range base metals including metalized ceramics. A minimum brazing temperature of 1800°F (980°C) is recommend for furnace and vacuum applications and the use of high-temperature (Black) flux is required when brazing without a protective cover or shielding gas.
Specifications
AM Au-2 conforms to the following specifications: American Welding Society (AWS) A5.8/A5.8M BVAu-2 and Unified Numbering System (UNS) P00807.
Forms Available
Wire, Foil, Atomized powder, Paste, Sheet, and Preformed shapes; rings, washers, discs, shims, specialty shapes. Two dimensional shapes can be Laser-cut and machined with EDM though parts must be cleaned prior to brazing.
