Uses

AM Ga-9 is primarily used to join titanium to stainless steel. AM Ga-9 is very ductile and corrosion resistant and is exclusively used in vacuum brazing applications. AM Ga-9 can also be used (though difficult) to braze Kovar, Copper, Nickel, Carbide, and Refractory metals.

Brazing Characteristics

The gallium content in AM Ga-9 creates an intermetallic layer on the surface of the base metals similar to metallization. AM Ga-9 creates extremely strong hermetic seals on Kovar, Copper, Nickel, Carbide, Refractory metals, and Metallized Ceramics. The recommended braze interface clearance for AM Ag-9 is 0.001 - 0.002” Inches with a minimum brazing temperature of 1,670°F (910°C).
