Uses
AM Ti-4.5 is a high purity braze alloy primarily used for direct application to non-metallized ceramic surfaces. AM Ti-4.5 is excellent for joining copper, carbon steel, Kovar, nickel-based alloys, titanium refractory metals, graphite, diamond, tungsten carbide, and non-metallized ceramics. AM Ti-4.5 meets or exceeds Vacuum Tube Grade (VTG) standards and must be used in a controlled atmosphere brazing (CAB) furnace. AM Ti-4.5 produces very strong, highly reliable, hermetically sealed braze joints with excellent wetting and diffusion.
Brazing Characteristics
AM Ti-4.5 is recommended to heat the base metals uniformly and quickly as there is a tendency to have Liquation Effect due to its long melting range (120°C). AM Ti-4.5 is recommended for controlled atmosphere brazing (CAB) furnace and vacuum applications only with a minimum brazing temperature of 1800°F (980°C).
Specifications
AM Ti-4.5 is produced in accordance to American Welding Society (AWS) A5.8/A5.8M 2019 specifications.
Forms Available
Foil, Atomized powder, Paste, Sheet, and Preformed shapes; washers, discs, shims, specialty shapes. Two dimensional shapes can be Laser-cut and/or machined with EDM. Preforms must be cleaned prior to brazing.
