Uses
Copper-ABA Brazing Alloy is a high purity active braze alloy. Copper-ABA is alloyed - Copper, Silicon, Titanium, and Aluminum. Copper-ABA is primarily used to braze directly to ceramic surfaces without metallization. This includes all ceramics and ceramic composites and virtually all ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces including carbides and diamond. Copper-ABA allows for ceramic-to metal and ceramic-to-ceramic surfaces to be brazed without metalizing, firing, and electroplating producing vacuum-grade hermetically sealed assemblies.
Brazing Characteristics
Copper-ABA Copper Brazing Alloy can be successfully brazed onto all metallic and non-metallic surfaces. Such as Kovar, Nickel, Ceramic composites, Diamond, Graphite, Carbides, all Steels, Refractory Metals, Titanium, Copper, and Super Alloys. A minimum brazing temperature of 1875° F (1024° C) is recommended for furnace and vacuum applications.
Specifications
Copper ABA is produced in accordance to American Welding Society (AWS) A5.8 Specifications.
Forms Available
Wire, Foil, Sheet, and Preformed shapes; rings, washers, discs, shims, specialty shapes. Two dimensional shapes can be Laser-cut and/or machined with EDM. Preform surface must be cleaned prior to brazing.
